I am yet to actually start work on the site, waay too much to do this time of year, so for now it just points to my etsy shop. But it's good to know that it's there for when I'm ready.
Obtaining copyright was easier than I would have ever imagined, and it's so good to know I have it.. especially last week when some douchebag sent me an email announcing that she was going to 'feature' my designs on her tea-towels, which she was then going to sell, with no credit to me at all..... errrrrm No you DO NOT.
I'm not against collaborating with others wanting to use any of my stuff, but I would appreciate being ASKED FIRST... because some stuff, is bad stuff.
Anyway.. enough blurrrrb!

| Actors-who-sing wanted for my Steampunk rock opera |

Folks, I need actors-who-can-sing for "Absinthe Heroes", my Steampunk musical, which is coming to the Steampunk World's Fair this May.
Performers will need to make some rehearsals - rehearsal locations will vary depending on performers, but most likely spots are Philly and Central Jersey, though we might visit Connecticut once. Looking for people who are flexible, versatile, have a good sense of humor, and are friendly and enjoy working with others. The director is inexperienced but awesome; this will be a reasonably collaborative effort. The music is being developed by Psyche Corporation; we'll probably learn it from recordings, not sheet music. Do make sure you can be -at- www.steampunkworldsfair.com, of course. Parts are nominally male, though it's not impossible that we could change genders. Looking to cast one mad chocolatier and one certainly-not-diabolical-or-anything mayor/narrator.
Pray repost as appropriate, if you so chose!

Hello everyone! I know this is long overdue, i've been a member of this community since the summer, but i was 'researching' all the work people do, because for my senior show as a fashion major, i'm deconstruct-reconstructing old boy band tshirts (nsync, backstreet boys, and a spice girls too haha). i needed ideas on how to do it and make it look professional, and when i make the final project i'll post it here!
in the meantime, here are some other surgeries and designs i've done which have been inspired here.( follow me )

Hey guys,
I've searched the archives and was unable to find the answer to this. I have several vintage knit sweaters that I want to make smaller and alter. How should I go about this? Is there a certain type of needle and/or stitch length that I should be using? I have only reconstructed things made of "easy" fabric so I have no idea where to even start.

Position: Marketing and Communications Manager
The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for four major communications areas for the organization: general marketing, communications and branding; publications; website and other electronic communications technology; media relations. The Marketing/Communications Manager will raise awareness and visibility of the Mansion and the organization’s activities in order to increase attendance, participation and community engagement. S/he will work collaboratively with Executive Director and other key staff to strategically plan for the future and establish and monitor annual objectives and indicators of success.
Reports to: Executive Director
Responsibilities include:
• Develop and execute a marketing/communications plan to support the implementation of the organization’s strategic plan, including traditional PR, collateral, and social media
• Develop and manage a marketing/communications budget in keeping with the organization’s strategic and financial objectives
• Promote the museum and its activities to tourists and residents of the greater metropolitan area through compelling and effective advertisements and promotions including evaluation of various media, negotiating costs, planning, placement and production
• Ensure that all communications promote a uniform brand, message and style; integrate the brand/style created by Sockeye and coordinate this effort internally
• Create and produce all communication tools for the public, including quarterly member newsletter, press releases and all marketing collateral
• Enhance, manage and regularly maintain website to make it a more effective tool
• Cultivate and maintain strong media relations, mange the organization’s media contacts, provide images, press releases and other information to the media
• Collect viable marketing data on visitors, non-visitors, regional demographics, industry standards and market trends; work with staff to incorporate findings into communication, program, exhibit and activity plans.
• Participate in Travel Portland and other visitors association joint promotion groups
Skills required:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field
• 5 years of marketing or communications experience.
• Exemplary written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
• Design sensibility and/or graphic design skills
• Creative, detail-oriented, proactive approach
• Flexibility, professionalism and a positive attitude
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and desktop publishing program such as Publisher or InDesign; experience with Constant Contact and Photoshop a plus
• Social media savvy
